Leaflet distribution for the future

Leaflet distribution for the future

What will leaflets look like and how will leaflet distribution be carried out in the future. Goodness only knows. Trying to envisage the future is like stepping into the unknown; we have no idea what each day will bring, let alone each month, year or decade ahead. Leaflet company, Leaflets and Leaflet Distrribution: nuisance or lifeline?.jpgHowever sometimes at All Homes we try and take a giant step and look very far ahead into the future just to try and see what the future holds for leaflet distribution techniques.

We seem to be standing on the edge of a new phase in technological development of the internet and digital means of use.  Whilst some years ago much focus was placed on the establishment of home computers, and developing faster methods through broadband of accessing the web and speeding up  the process of surfing, locating  and downloading. Now the focus is on refining this and enabling any individuals anywhere to be able to instantly make use of information on the great World Wide Web whether they are on a plane, up a mountain, down a mineshaft or travelling in the car to visit relatives.  Access is now becoming easier and easier through smart phones, tablets and other intriguing digital portable handsets.

The implications for marketing, including the design of leafets and the tactical use of leaflet distribution therefore even just 20 – 30 years into the future are huge.

Take a step back and think about how leaflets might look. Forget paper. Paper will become what papyrus is today, a primitive thing of the past – stored in museums and taken out every now and them just as a reminder that it did indeed exist and was used by our ancestors. Our new leaflets may be thinner versions of the new tablet, and our leaflet distribution may not even exist. All Homes would have a master tablet and with a flick of a mouse-click it would access household tablets through the internet – send signals that a new message has arrived on screen and need just be tapped into – a form of email but not delivered into a message box – just appearing on screen with message-light blinking until switched off.  Instant leafets and instant leaflet distribution, no paper, no print, but lots of design and imagination.

Is this what we want? Will this vision, if it becomes a reality, leave thousands out of work, or will provide greater employment prospects? Will it allow greater selling and information opportunities to businesses and organisations or will it simply allow householders to reject with a click of a mouse, without properly looking at the information given? The beauty of leaflets today is the length of time they can be looked at – popped on a mantelpiece until later or under a magnet on a fridge means rejection isn’t immediate. Do we want to lose that?
